Imam Ali ibn Husayn Zayn al-Abidin Was Born

On this day, on 4 January 659 Imam Ali ibn Husayn Zayn al-Abidin, the great-grandson of Prophet Muhammad (SAWS) was born. After losing 17 members of his family in the Battle of Karbala, he lived to be called As-Sajjad, (the Consistently Prostrating One) and became an authority on Islamic teachings.


Maulana Abdul Khaliq Sambhali Was Born

On this day, on 4 January 1950, Maulana Abdul Khaliq Sambhali, the Islamic scholar and litterateur who served as the vice-rector of Darul Uloom Deoband was born. His published works include his weekly lectures on Maududiyyat and his popular translations from Arabic of the books Kitab al-Tawhid and the Fatawa ‘Alamgiri.
