Syud Hossain Was Born

On this day, on January 23, 1888, Syud Hossain, journalist and India’s first ambassador to Cairo was born. Hossain promoted the cause of India’s freedom through diverse newspapers. A writer, political activist and a member of the Congress, he was the editor of a newspaper from Allahabad ‘The Independent’, which had a widespread readership.
