Shah Jahan Became Ruler Of Mughal Empire

On this day, on 19 January 1628, Shah Jahan became the fifth Mughal Emperor of India. The Empire reached the peak of its glory under his reign. Shah Jahan’s reign was notable for successes against the Deccan states and for building the Taj Mahal, a masterpiece built in the memory of his wife, Mumtaz Maḥal.
