On This Day In Muslim History: January 17

Maulana Syed Ahmad Hashmi Was Born

On this day, on 17 January 1932, Islamic scholar Maulana Syed Ahmad Hashmi, politician and general secretary of Jamiat Ulama-e-Hind was born. He served as the chairman of the Passenger Amenities Committee and member of the Rajya Sabha, from Uttar Pradesh for two terms and started two weeklies in Uttar Pradesh, the Armaghān and Kundan.
