On This Day In Muslim History: January 11

The Conquest Of Makkah

On this day, on 11 January 630 AD, Muslims led by Muhammad (PBUH) took Makkah without bloodshed marking the most peaceful conquest in human history. Makkah surrendered dignified and safe, in the month of Ramadan, ending two decades of oppression. Muhammad (PBUH) called it a ‘day of mercy’ and declared general amnesty.


Muhammad Mian Mansoor Ansari

On this day, on 11 January 1946, Muhammad Mian Mansoor Ansari, leader, political activist of the Indian Independence and the hero of the Silk Letter Movement passed away. Ansari travelled seeking support of the Central Powers and successfully secured the right to free passage from Afghanistan where he died and is buried.
