On This Day In Muslim History: February 13

Faiz Ahmed Faiz Was Born

On this day, on 13 February 1911, Faiz Ahmed Faiz, celebrated Urdu poet and author was born. A nominee for the Nobel Peace Prize and recipient of the Lenin Peace Prize, he was also a teacher, an army officer, a journalist, a trade unionist, a broadcaster and a notable member of the Progressive Writers’ Movement.


Muhyi ad-Din Muzaffar Jang Hidayat Died

This day, 13 February 1751, marks the death anniversary of the Nizam of Hyderabad, Muhyi ad-Din Muzaffar Jang Hidayat. To honour his alliance with them he granted territories and titles to the French, disappointing his Carnatic and Afghan allies and resulting in the first direct involvement of the Europeans in Indian domestic politics.
