On This Day In Muslim History: February 11

Hakim Ajmal Khan Was Born

On this day, on 11 February 1868, Hakim Ajmal Khan, physician and founder of the Jamia Millia Islamia University and Ayurvedic and Unani Tibbia College, was born. Hailed as Massiha-e-Hind (Healer of India), he contributed towards national integration and has Ajmaline, a class 1A antiarrhythmic agent and Ajmalan, a parent hydride, named after him.


Fakhruddin Ali Ahmed Died

This day, 11 February 1977, marks the death anniversary of Fakhruddin Ali Ahmed, lawyer, politician and the fifth and second Muslim President of India. A member of the Rajya Sabha, he participated in the Indian Freedom Movement, to be arrested during the Quit India Movement and imprisoned for three and a half years.
