Kerala’s MediaOne TV Blocked By Union Govt, Yet Again

The Information and Broadcasting (I&B) ministry has blocked the broadcast of MediaOne TV, the popular Malayalam news channel, citing security reasons, Madhyamam reported.

This is the second time the news channel has been blocked by the ministry. In March 2020, the Union Government had blocked MediaOne and Asianet News for raising critical questions over Police’s and RSS’s role in the anti-Muslim pogrom in Delhi. The ban was lifted within hours, after an uproar.

In a message to its audience, the channels’ Editor Pramod Raman said “The Central Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has again blocked the broadcast of MediaOne, citing security reasons. The government has not made its details available to MediaOne.

The channel said that they have initiated legal steps against this move and they expect that justice will be served.
