Jharkhand: College Topper Denied Degree For Wearing Burqa At Graduation Ceremony

In a shocking incident, a college in Jharkhand’s Ranchi refused to award a degree to its top student, because she had come to the graduation ceremony in a burqa.

Ranchi’s Marwari College on Sunday turned away its overall best graduate Nishat Fatima from the graduation ceremony, saying that she was not in the dress code fixed by the college.

According to reports, the dress code for the ceremony was decided by the college beforehand, in which the male students were required to come in a white coloured kurta-pyjama and the female students were required to attend the event in salwar-suit, scarf or sari.
