“Ammi I Will Pass With Good Numbers, And Become Successful,” Mudassir Alam’s Mother Recalls Her Late Son’s Words

A minor Muslim boy Mudassir Alam who was killed in police action during a protest held in Jharkhand’s Ranchi district on 10 June, has passed the 10th class examinations with first division. Mudassir, who belonged to a poor family managed to secure 66.6 per cent marks in the board exams announced by Jharkhand Academic Council just 11 days after his death.

While Mudassir’s father Mohammed Parvez Alam is a vegetable vendor, his mother Nikhat Parveen is a domestic helper.

“I was so happy after seeing the results. He fulfilled my expectations. I only wanted that my son should pass with good grade and he did it. Even after he is gone, he made me happy,” Nikhat told The Cognate.

“Mudassir used to tell me ‘Ammi I will pass with good number, I will come first. I will do a government job and become so successful, Ammi you see’,” his mother recalls her late sons’ words and added, “Indeed today he obtained very good marks but…”

On June 10, Mudassir Alam was killed when the cops opened fire on a huge crowd of Muslims gathered at Ranchi Main Road near the Daily Market to protest demanding the arrest of two former Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders’ Nupur Sharma and Naveen Jindal, who made derogatory comments against the Prophet Muhammad.

A pained mother Nikhat while demanding justice for her lost son said, “I just only want justice for my son. The people responsible for his death should be punished.”

The minor boy’s uncle Shahid Ayyubi told The Cognate that his parents were desperately waiting for his results, which were unfortunately announced after his death.

Mudassir’s parents were desperately waiting for his results. While his parents were happy after seeing his results,” Ayyubi said, “On the other hand they were sad that he who worked so hard and got so good marks was no more in this world.”

“It’s Allah’s grace that he obtained good marks for his hard work. I’m also so proud of him but our boy isn’t here anymore. May Allah grant him a place in heaven,” he added.

Describing the loss of his family, the Mudassir’s uncle said that there is still an atmosphere of mourning in their house. “After seeing the results, we could not stop our tears. Can’t expect that anything will be fine any soon now. They’re still grieving him. If it was a normal death, it would have not been so hurting. But he was killed only for being in the protest, the whole world knows this incident now. This cannot be forgotten so soon.”

Ayyubi, President of Jharkhand Muslim Yuva Manch said that even after 11 days after his death, the police have not taken their complaint.

“It’s been 11 days, but still no complaint has been filed, no action has been taken against the culprits. They’re discriminating against us. Nobody is giving us any answer,” he told The Cognate.
