American activist and TikToker Megan Rice has converted to Islam. The catalyst for her conversion was the unwavering resilience of the people in Gaza, who face the harsh realities of genocide. Megan, who has been vocal in her defense of Palestinians throughout the conflict, made the announcement via a live broadcast on her TikTok page.

The TikToker, known by her handle @megan_b_rice, was seen pronouncing the Shahadah, the testimony of faith, during the live stream. In her announcement, she expressed a newfound sense of safety and security in wearing the hijab.

Megan’s journey towards Islam began when she posted a video expressing her admiration for the strength and faith of the Palestinian people. Followers responded by encouraging her to read the Quran, which prompted her to delve into the holy book. In a video shared on TikTok, she stated, “I have time, and I am curious to research and learn. I have started reading the Quran to know the secret of the source of the strength of the people of Gaza.”

During her exploration of the Quran, Megan discovered the direct style of the holy surahs and the emphasis on the freedom of divorce and remarriage for women without obstacles.

To further her understanding of Islam and educate others, Megan initiated a Quran book club on TikTok. The club aims to shed light on Islam and other religions while combatting Islamophobia and racism. In an Instagram post, she clarified that the campaign’s goal is to understand why Palestinian people hold the Quran and its teachings so dearly.

Megan’s decision to convert to Islam was driven by finding its teachings compatible with her personal beliefs. Her social media accounts now showcase daily English translations of Quranic verses she reads, creating a platform for interfaith dialogue and understanding.

Social media users have celebrated Megan’s decision, showering her with congratulations and praise for taking this significant step.
