In wake of the judgement acquitting conspirators of Babri Masjid’s demolition and the Hathras gangrape and murder case, Anand Patwardhan, award-winning filmmaker and director of the acclaimed documentary Ram Ke Nam, responded to the incidents saying, “We are now living under Hindutva version of Sharia Law!”
We are now living under Hindutva version of
Sharia Law !— Anand Patwardhan (@anandverite) September 30, 2020
Netizens responded to the baseless accusation, defending Sharia as being unparalleled with the incidents. They held that the Sharia law imposes strict punishment over persons accused of sexual assault and that it does not permit the destruction of previously erected places of worship. Others highlighted that it was unnecessary to bring in the aspect of Sharia law and that it brought to light the filmmaker’s “inner islamophobia”.
Sharia Law doesn't allow a Temple demolishing nor does Sharia Law protect the Rapists. Sharia ensures justice and equality. Hindutva thrives on hatred, injustice, and inequality.

Sharia is "strict" but "not unjust".. There can never be sharia version of hindutva as "justice" can never be a part of your ideology. Its not necessary to drag another community through mud to feel better about your own.

Read what is Sharia law, Neither it protects rapist nor it allows you to demolish other places of worship. Sharia law if implemented these Culprits will run to save their lives rather than sitting in the front row of Yogi's rally. https://t.co/MN0uwQxBfm

Hindutva is fascism..
And the rights that women got under sharia predates modern laws.

Hi ‘liberal’ @anandverite,
*If your FB post is about Babri verdict, Sharia has nothing to do with it.
*If it’s about rape of a Dalit girl in UP, Sharia imposes death penalty for rapists. Under Hindutva rule, rapists are protected.
*Condemn Hindutva without dragging Islam into it. https://t.co/nhUzA2zwxz— Irena Akbar (@irenaakbar) September 30, 2020
