Road Signboard In Udupi ‘Named’ After Nathuram Godse Sparks Outrage

A road in Udupi’s Karkala taluk has been named after Nathuram Godse, the man who assassinated Mahatma Gandhi, sparking a new controversy.

The road leading to the Bola Gram Panchayat office has a board, that reads ‘Padugiri Nathuram Godse Road’ in Kannada.

Images of the road sign have gone viral on social media, drawing criticism. Members of Youth Congress leaders brought the issue to the notice of the Gram Panchayat authorities.

The activists issued a protest warning against not clearing the nameplate after Mahatma Gandhi’s assassin.

Following the outrage, the Karkal police visited the spot and the controversial board has been cleared in the presence of members of the Bola Arbitration Committee.

The name board was installed by an unknown private party, according to reports.
