Mughal Commander Bairam Khan Died

On this day, on 31 January 1561, Muhammad Bairam Khan, commander-in-chief of the Mughal army during the reign of Humayun and Akbar, was assassinated. Guardian, chief mentor, adviser, teacher and trusted ally of Akbar he was called Khan-i-Khanan (King of Kings). Contributing greatly to the Mughal empire, he led the reconquest of Hindustan under Humayun.
