Sultan Mustafa II Was Born
On this day, 6 February 1664, Ottoman Sultan Mustafa II was born. Determined to recapture the lost territories in Hungary, he personally commanded his armies and eventually recovered the island of Chios from Venice, and other lands from Austria until he lost Hungary and was deposed during a civil revolt.
Abdul Ghaffar Khan Was Born
On this day, on 6 February 1890, Abdul Ghaffar Khan was born. Honourably addressed as Fakhr-e-Afghan and nicknamed ‘Frontier Gandhi’, he founded the Khudai Khidmatgar, a non-violent, anti-colonial resistance movement.
