Mir Osman Ali Khan, Asaf Jah VII Died
This day, 24 February 1967, marks the death anniversary of Mir Osman Ali Khan the last Nizam of Hyderabad. He introduced electricity, railways, roads and airports and established many public institutions in the city in his 37-year rule and is known as the “Architect of modern Hyderabad”.
Ibn Battuta Was Born
On this day, on 24 February 1304, Ibn Battuta, scholar, writer and explorer who surpassed all explorers in pre-modern history including Marco Polo, was born. His travelogue titled, The Rihla chronicles his explorations of thirty years across 75,000 miles where he was also appointed as Grand Judge in Delhi and later his hometown.
