On This Day In Muslim History: February 22

Maulana Abul Kalam Azad Died

This day, 22 February 1958, marks the death anniversary of Abul Kalam Azad, freedom fighter, Islamic theologian, writer and the first Education Minister of India. Recipient of the Bharat Ratna, he established two newspapers and promoted scientific education in India. His birthday on 11 November is celebrated as National Education Day.


Humayun Kabir Was Born

On this day, on 22 February 1906, Humayun Kabir, educationist, politician, poet, essayist was born. Educated at Oxford, he was the Minister of State for Civil Aviation, Education Minister of India twice and member of the Rajya Sabha. He made remarkable contributions to Bengali intellectual thinking through his work and was the editor of Maulana Abdul Kalam Azad’s biography India Wins Freedom.
