Missing AMU Student Ashraf Ali Found in Delhi, “Suffering From Depression”, Says Aligarh Police

The student of Aligarh Muslim University who has been reported missing since 24 February was found in Delhi’s Jama Masjid area on Wednesday.

Ashraf Ali, a BA Spanish student at Aligarh Muslim University and resident of Bihar’s Araria went missing on 24th February and was untraceable since then.

The information of his whereabouts was made public by SSP Aligarh Kuldeep Gunawat after the Proctor of Aligarh Muslim University informed the police about his location. 

In a video tweeted by SSP, he said, “He is suffering from depression and getting medical assistance for the same.”

“Ashraf is safe and sound with his relative and had been wandering in and around Delhi as he is struggling with depression” he added.

Soon after he went missing people started raising demands to find the student as they believed he can be another Najeeb Ahmad, a missing student of Jawaharlal Nehru University since 2016.

AIMIM President Asaduddin Owaisi also raised his voice urging Uttar Police to take action to trace Ashraf.

Students at Aligarh Muslim University also held protests demanding speedy action of administration in this regard.
