A new controversy has erupted in Karnataka after Hindu organizations objected to the management of a school for taking students on a trip to a dargah and mosque on the eve of Eid-Ul-Azha in Gundlupet of Chamrajanagar district.
Hindu Jagarana Vedike has strongly objected to the trip and also raised the issue with the education department by submitting a complaint in this regard.
On July 8, UKG students of Young Scholar School were taken on a trip to the dargah and the mosque of Terakanambi town.
Locals have alleged that the students were made to offer prayers at the mosque and a religious leader at the dargah even gave preachings leading to public outrage against the school management, IANS reported.
The issue has taken a communal turn despite the school management apologising for it and assuring action against the teachers concerned.
However, the teachers had informed parents about the trip, according to the education department officials.
Meanwhile, the education department has instructed the school management not to take children without informing.
Incidentally, the school concerned is owned by a BJP leader and the trip to the religious sites was a part of introducing new places to the students.
