Karnataka Hindutva leader threatens to demolish the controversial Idgah wall in Bengaluru’s Chamarajapet on the Babri Masjid demolition day on December 6.
Speaking to a local Kannada media about the Idgah Maidan, the leader says, “Look now that (Idgah) wall must be replaced from there or else let the government demolish that (wall). If they won’t do that, then this year on 6 December, on the anniversary of the Babri demolition which Muslims say is a black day for them, don’t know about it but for us, it is a saffron day. On that day we will demolish that (Idgah) wall,” he threatens.

The Idgah Maidan has been caught up in a controversy over claims for its ownership between the Wakf Board and the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP). On August 3, the civic body declared the ground to be a property of the state revenue department.
“In order to get all kinds of facilities for the public to use that ground, we will demolish that wall. Already we are in touch with many pro-Hindu organizations in the state like Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Kerala and Maharashtra. We are in touch with many Hindu Hindu organizations of the state.”
“It is confirmed that we will join in a mass gathering there and we will demolish that wall. You write it down after six December there will be no Idgah wall there,” he said.
In the past few days, several Hindutva groups have submitted pleas for festivals to be celebrated on a ground that is currently used as a public space but is actually a ground for Muslims to offer namaz.
