Hajj 2024: Online Applications Open As India Prepares For Spiritual Journey

The Haj Committee of India is now accepting Hajj Application Forms (HAF) from pilgrims interested in participating in Hajj 2024 (Haj 1445 AH). The application process, open from December 4 to December 20, 2023, is exclusively online, accessible through the committee’s website or State Haj Committees.

For Hajj 2024, the anticipated Hajj Day or Youm ul Hajj is projected to fall on Wednesday, June 19, 2024, based on astronomical calculations. However, the final date will be determined after the sighting of the new moon.

Saudi Arabia has reinstated the pilgrims’ quota for Hajj 2024 to pre-pandemic levels, allowing nearly 175,025 pilgrims from India to participate. Of these, 80% will go through the Haj Committee of India, while the remaining 20% will opt for Haj Group Organizers (HGOs), such as private tour or Hajj tour operators.

The application process involves a draw of lots (qurrah) conducted by the Haj Committee of India to finalize the list of pilgrims, ensuring a fair distribution among different Indian states based on Muslim population.

To apply for Hajj 2024, interested individuals can follow these steps:

  • Visit hajcommittee.gov.in.
  • Click on the “Apply Now” button on the homepage.
  • Enter required details: Mobile Number, Email Id, Name, Password, State, and District.

The Haj Committee of India released the Haj Policy 2024 on December 3, 2023, outlining embarkation points and other relevant information. Although the exact Hajj flight schedule and payment details are pending, the committee assures that Haj Application Forms will be free and obtainable from State/Union Territory Haj Committees or through the official website and the “Haj Committee of India” Android app.

The Haj Policy details the qurrah process, government quota, general waitlist, cancellation and refund rules, accommodations in Makkah and Madinah, and the selection of air carriers. The committee emphasizes the transparent selection of airlines for Haj operations in coordination with the Ministry of Civil Aviation.

The Hajj Embarkation Points for 2024 are specified as follows: Mumbai, Delhi, Chennai, Kolkata, Srinagar, Ranchi, Gaya, Guwahati, Indore, Bhopal, Mangalore, Goa, Aurangabad, Varanasi, Jaipur, Nagpur, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Cochin, Ahmedabad, Lucknow, Kannur, Vijayawada, Agartala, and Calicut.
