Grand Mufti Of India Writes To PM Modi Expressing Concern For The Palestinian People

The Grand Mufti of India, Sheikh Abubakr Ahmad Musliyar, addressed a heartfelt letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, expressing deep concerns regarding the ongoing suffering of the Palestinian people, in its ongoing war with Israel. 

In the letter, Sheikh Abubakr Ahmad highlighted India’s longstanding support for the Palestinian people, emphasizing that it is essential for India to play a mediating role in resolving the challenges currently plaguing the Middle East. This plea follows a recent phone conversation between the Grand Mufti of India and the Palestinian Mufti, Sheikh Muhammad Hussain, underlining the dedication of India to global principles of peace and unity.

The Grand Mufti underscored India’s historical role as a symbol of peace, tolerance, and harmony, emphasizing the nation’s rich tradition of embracing diversity and fostering communal unity. He conveyed the Jerusalem Grand Mufti’s deep appreciation for India’s empathetic understanding of Palestinian concerns and their rights throughout history. Given this legacy, the Grand Mufti stated that India is well-positioned to play a pivotal role in helping bring an end to the crisis in the West Asian region.

Furthermore, Sheikh Abubakr Ahmad Musliyar urged for a permanent solution to the Palestinian-Israeli crisis, emphasizing the need to create a peaceful common future. A message from the Mufti of Palestine, expressing gratitude for India’s historic stance on the Palestine-Israel issue, was also delivered to Prime Minister Modi.

The Grand Mufti’s letter signals a powerful call to action, appealing to India’s core values and its historical role as a proponent of peace and unity on the global stage. The appeal for mediation reflects India’s commitment to playing a constructive role in facilitating a lasting solution to the challenges faced by the Palestinian people and the broader Middle East.
