Senior BJP leader and former Deputy Chief Minister, KS Eshwarappa, has ignited controversy with provocative statements, declaring that no mosque constructed after the destruction of a temple would be spared in India. Known for his controversial remarks, Eshwarappa clarified that he wouldn’t address newly-built mosques but insisted that those constructed after demolishing Hindu temples would not be allowed to stand. Emphasizing this as his personal opinion, he expressed the impossibility of making India a Hindu nation, clarifying it wasn’t the BJP’s agenda but a desire of the Hindu community.
Eshwarappa referenced the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya, highlighting the ongoing struggle since pre-Independence and criticized the alleged destruction in Mathura and Kashi by Muslims. He claimed that individuals who previously raised concerns about these incidents were now relieved in heaven. Anticipating developments in Ayodhya, Kashi Vishwanath temple, and Krishna temple in Mathura, he suggested that the protection of temples in these Hindu pilgrimage centers was a priority.
Accusing Chief Minister Siddaramaiah of supporting controversial statements, Eshwarappa denounced the proposal to make AICC President Mallikarjun Kharge the prime ministerial candidate for the INDIA bloc. He labeled it as an insult to Dalits and portrayed it as a betrayal by the Congress. Eshwarappa has a history of making provocative statements, previously claiming that the Bhagva flag would be hoisted on the Red Fort in New Delhi.
