In the latest development of the gruesome murder of a 21-year-old civil defence volunteer whose body was discovered in the jungles at Surajkund on August 27, was not sexually assaulted, says the postmortem report.
The report accessed by The Cognate discloses that a deep wound was present over the victim’s chest and multiple ribs were fractured. The occipital region of the head was also found fractured. The report also says that her neck, face, nose, chin and mouth were also stabbed which gave her deep wounds but does not mention sexual assault.
The report says death was due to injuries caused by a sharp object and states “shock and haemorrhage” as the cause of death.
The police have claimed that one Mohd Nizamuddin had confessed to murdering the victim. Nizamuddin claimed that he had married the victim without their families’ consent, and killed the girl alleging that she maintained illicit relationships.
While the report has ruled out that the victim was sexually assaulted, the family, however, insists she was sexually violated before being murdered. They also dismissed the claims that she was married.
Monish Saifi, the victim’s relative said, “She was not married to anyone. If Nizamuddin claims that she was married to him, he must have a document to prove that, a marriage photo, a registrar document who solemnized their wedding.”
A report in The Times of India quoted DCP (Southeast) RP Meena, who said that the man met the girl in Lajpat Nagar on the night of the incident and the two rode towards Surajkund. The two had an argument and in a fit of rage, he killed her.
The victim’s family has been protesting for over a week demanding a CBI probe into the case. In an earlier interview with The Cognate, the victim’s family said that she had multiple stabs on different parts and her breasts were cut off. “This doesn’t look like a handiwork of a single individual,” they said.
