Bengaluru: A gathering of Muslim religious leaders has issued a warning to the Congress party saying, “If the Muslim community continues to be treated unjustly in the political field, Congress party will be taught a fitting lesson during the elections”.
During the press conference which was conducted in the premises of the Khadria Mosque in the city, the state president of the Jamiatul Ulama Hind Maulana Iftikhar Qasmi addressed the media and said, “The post for Vidhana Parishad’s leader of the opposition should have been reserved for the Muslim community. However, the senior leaders of the Congress party have taken a wrong step and done injustice to the Muslim community”, he said.
“The Muslim community has supported and stood by the Congress party in every election. However, the senior leaders of this party, AICC leaders are not considering leaders from the Muslim community. Although they have strived for the party for several years, they are being constantly neglected by the party”, he said expressing his dissatisfaction.
If the Congress continues to neglect Muslims by taking such steps, similar to the states of West Bengal and Bihar, Muslims may have to join hands with other parties”, Ifthikar Ahmed Qasmi stated.
Maulana Syed Shabbir Ahmad Nadvi spoke to the press and said, “Congress must give appropriate positions to those from the minority community. If not, in later days, a fitting lesson may have to be taught to the party during the election. To discuss in this regard, a state-level gathering will be organized”, he informed.
President of Jamaat-e-Ahle Sunnat Karnataka, Maulana Sayed Tanveer Hashmi addressed the media and said, “When it comes to the Muslim community, Congress appears to be meeting out step-motherly treatment. More than 1 crore people belonging to the Muslim Community reside in Karnataka. Despite this, our community is not being given suitable position nor respect”, he expressed his dissatisfaction.
The panel of religious leaders expressed dissatisfaction that the party is assuming silence on the injustices and atrocities meted out to the Muslim community. “In the very least, such a party is supposed to break their silence and talk on behalf of the affected, but they are assuming silence”, the leaders expressed.
Former State President of the All India Milli Council, Shaikh Ajaz Ahmad Nadvi along with several prominent personalities from the community were present during the press conference.
