Syed Sadatullah Husaini has been reelected as the Ameer (President) of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind for a four-year term from April 2023 till March 2027. The decision was made by the 162 member Markazi Majlis-e Numanidgan (Council of Representatives) of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind, which convened from April 26th to April 30th, 2023. The Council of Representatives, which included 36 women, gathered at the Jamaat headquarters to discuss and reelect Husaini.
Husaini was previously elected as the new President of JIH in April 2019, succeeding Maulana Syed Jalaluddin Umri, who had been the head of the organization for 12 years. Prior to his presidency, Husaini also served as the Vice President of the organization and as a member of the JIH Central Advisory Council. He has headed various forums and bodies and has also served as the National President of JIH’s student wing, Students Islamic Organisation (SIO) of India, for two consecutive terms. Additionally, he sits on the boards of several social and academic organizations in Hyderabad, Bangalore, Delhi, and Aligarh.
Born on June 7th, 1973, in Mahboobnagar district of Telangana, Husaini graduated in electronics and telecommunication engineering from Nanded, Maharashtra. He is the Chief Editor of the Urdu monthly magazine, Zindagi e Nau, and is a regular columnist who writes on both burning and Islamic issues. Husaini has authored about 22 books and has written over 400 articles in Urdu and English languages. His books and articles cover various topics, including the application of Islam in contemporary times, Islamic activism, Muslim and minority issues, policymaking, philosophy, economics, gender, and more.
