Syed Sadatullah Husaini has been elected National President (Ameer) of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind (JIH). According to JIH’s website, he was elected by its 157 members Markazi Majlis-e Numanidgan (Council of Representatives) after “thorough deliberations on all aspects”.
Husaini has been elected for a 4-year term from April 2019 till March 2023. He precedes Maulana Jalaluddin Umri, who headed the organisation for several years.
Born in 1973 in Nanded, Maharashtra, Husaini holds a Bachelor’s degree in Electronics and Telecommunications Engineering.
He is the former National President of Jamaat’s student organization the Students Islamic Organization (SIO) for two consecutive terms. He is also on the boards of many social and academic organizations in Hyderabad, Bangalore, Delhi and Aligarh, and has authored 12 Books and has written more than 200 articles in Urdu and English.
Husaini is the youngest ever Ameer of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind.
