Renaming of Tipu Sultan Circle As Savarkar Circle Sparks Protests in Yadgiri

The controversy over Tipu Sultan and Savarkar in Karnataka has come to the fore once again after the Municipal Council in Yadgiri district renamed the Tipu Sultan Circle as Savarkar Circle.

Expressing outrage over this, the progressives and members of various organizations reached to the Circle and protested against it. The agitators have tied black bands on their hands and shouted slogans in front of the district’s municipal council office.

The Hazrat Tipu Sultan Samyukta Ranga has accused the municipal council president of proposing the renaming of circle as Savarkar, Prasthutha news reported.

During a general meeting in 2010, the circle was decided to be named as Tipu Circle.
