Noted Islamic Scholar P M Ibrahim Musliyar Bekal Passes Away In Mangaluru

Noted Islamic scholar and Qadhi of Udupi, Chikkamagaluru, Hassan and Shivamogga districts, Al-Haj P.M. Ibrahim Musliyar Bekal passed away in Mangaluru on Thursday after a brief illness. He was 71 and is survived by his wife, three sons and two daughters.

Popularly known as Bekal Ustad, he was the state president of Sunni Jamiyyatul UIlema and principal of Jamia Sa-adiya Arabiya college and chief editor of ‘Al Ansar’ Islamic magazine.

Born in 1949 in Poodal in Naringana in Bantwal taluk of Dakshina Kannada district, Ibrahim Musliyar Bekal obtained his degree in Islamic studies from Deoband Arabic College and had served Soorinje and Bantwal Juma Masjids for two years each. He later served as a Mudarris (educator) of Bekal for 43 years.

He was known as ‘Tajul Fuqaha’, thanks to his proficiency in Islamic fiqh (jurisprudence).
