Muslim Man Lynched To Death In Haryana, Six Arrested

A 28-year-old Muslim man was lynched to death after allegedly being forced to chant ‘Jai Shri Ram’ by a group of Hindutva militants on Sunday night in Haryana.

Asif Khan, who was a gym trainer, and his two cousins were returning from Sohna on Sunday night when he was waylaid by a group of around 30 people and murdered him.

“Our car was rammed by a car and then another. We were abused and then pulled out of our car. They shouted “maar mulle ko” — Kill Muslims— and lynched Asif”, his brother Rashid said.

Khan was found dead in Nangli, a village on the outskirts of Sonha, Haryana.

Superintendent of Police Narendra Bijarniya told reporters that out of the 14 named in the FIR, six had been arrested. Those arrested have been identified as Raju, Anup, Mahender, Lalit, Sandeep, and Ankit.

A special investigation team, headed by a DSP-rank officer, has been constituted to arrest others and conduct an investigation.

According to the SP, the incident was a fallout of enmity between two groups and there was no communal angle involved in it.
