Bengaluru: “We as Muslims are deeply saddened and disgusted by the large number of innocent lives lost in these attacks, in the name of Islam. This is a tragedy of immense proportion, and an extremely sad day for the entire world. Our heart goes out to the families of the children whose lives have been cut short by this abhorrent act of terrorism.”
These were the views expressed by the representatives of Mission Possible for Justice & Rights (MPJR), All India Dawah Centres Association (AIDCA) and Karnataka Dawah Centres Association (KDCA) — some of the leading Muslim organizations in the city at a press conference today.
Expressing his horror against the mindless barbarism in Peshawar & Sydney, Mr. Maahir Rehman said, “Muslims in general, strongly condemn the blood-curdling attack on a school in Peshawar, Pakistan, and on a cafe in Australia, which has cost the lives of at least 130 people, the vast majority of whom were children and other innocent lives.”
Islamic scholar Shaikh Aejaz Saqib Oomri said, “Nothing, including Islam, norms of armed conflict or even common decency, justifies such brutal targeting of children. The killers and those who dispatched them to attack the school have respect neither for religious commandments nor notions of civilised or decent behaviour.”
He said that, “Islam considers all life forms as sacred. However, the sanctity of human life is accorded a special place. The first and the foremost basic right of a human being is the right to live.”
Replying to a vitriolic remark against the Muslim community by a reporter of a regional newspaper at the press meet, Mr. Faisal Syed, representative of MPJR said, “Suicide bombings and terrorism is not independent to Muslims. Mahatma Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi were not assassinated by Muslims neither Malegaon bomb blast was carried by Muslims.”
