A Mumbai sessions court on Tuesday granted bail to three accused arrested in connection with the ‘Bulli Bai’ app case, which had made the details of several prominent Muslim women public and enabled people to participate in their “auction”.
Additional Sessions Judge AB Sharma granted bail to Niraj Bishnoi, Aumkareshwar Thakur and Neeraj Singh.
Bishnoi in his bail application, filed through his counsel Shivam Deshmukh claimed he had been falsely implicated in the case, and sought parity as his co-accused Vishal Kumar Jha, Shweta Singh and Mayank Agarwal had been granted bail in April by Bandra magistrate court.
In its charge sheet filed in March, the police had claimed Bishnoi asked one of the co-accused to send photographs of 100 “famous non-BJP Muslim women” in order to put their images up for auction.
Further, the charge sheet stated that Bishnoi was the first one to share the link of Bulli Bai app on his Twitter group and the group members were fully aware that it would be used to target Muslim women.
The purpose of creating the app was to humiliate and intimidate the targeted Muslim women, many of whom are active social media users.
