Amid the ongoing international outrage from Muslim nations over derogatory comments against Prophet Muhammad by two BJP functionaries, another man from Karnataka’s Bidar has allegedly posted an objectionable post on the Prophet in a WhatsApp group.
Bidar’s Basavakalyan city witnessed a tense situation on Monday night as hundreds of Muslims staged a protest outside the city police station demanding the arrest of a person identified as Rajkumar Malagi, News9 reported.
He had reportedly posted an objectionable post against Prophet Muhammad. Later, a First Information Report (FIR) was registered against him but as the police had not arrested the accused yet, it led to tension among the Muslims. Many gathered at the Basavakalyan Police station demanding his arrest.
After the protests, the police arrested Malagi and dispersed the demonstrators. Precautionary measures have been taken in Basavakalyan and security has also heightened.
This incident comes at a time took when there are several protests being reported in parts of the country against now sacked BJP leaders Nupur Sharma and Naveen Jindal for their remarks on Prophet Muhammad.
The saffron party had suspended Sharma and expelled Jindal from their posts following backlash from Muslim countries.
