On Sunday, local residents of a village in Unnao mercilessly beat up and killed a Muslim man, identified as Anis. Reports suggest that the deceased was said to be roaming in the area when the local residents beat him up severely on mere suspicion of him being a thief.
A case of culpable homicide, not amounting to murder, has been registered against five persons, Circle Officer Bangarmau, Anjani Kumar Singh said.
The police reportedly rushed to the spot after being alerted that an unidentified man, having multiple injuries, lying in the Behta Mujawar village.
Police took the injured man to Bangarmau community health centre, where doctors declared him dead. The police, thereafter, sent the body for post mortem.
The deceased’s father- Raees, says that his son was innocent and beaten to death when he had gone to Behta Mujawar area. He demanded immediate arrest of the accused named in the case.
The police said that additional forces have been deployed area to maintain peace and to prevent any untoward incidents.
