A Hindu extremist group called Kranti Sena on Tuesday carried out a march in the main markets of Muzaffarnagar threatening Hindu shop owners against employing Muslims. The outfit threatened shops to not employ Muslim Mehendi artists and barbers on the occasion of Hariyali Teej, a Hindu festival.
In the videos doing rounds on social media, the group can be seen visiting shops and beauty parlours in the market asking if they have any Muslim Mehendi artists or barbers. The group also warned everyone that Muslims will have to face dire consequences if they are found working in Hindu shops.
Similar messages were being circulated on social media, which targeted the livelihood of Muslims in the area.
Manoj Saini, State Secretary of Kranti Sena wrote on his Facebook post that on the occasion of Hariyali Teej, they will not let any Muslim apply Mehendi. “Today, under the leadership of Manoj Saini, along with Poonam Aggrawal visited Shiv Chowk, Bhagat Singh Road, Nayi Mandi Bindal Bazaar, beauty parlours and checked that no Muslim men should be given work to apply Mehendi today. We also make sure that they will not employ Muslims for any work in future”.
Rajesh Kashyap, leader of the extremist outfit also wrote on a Facebook post, “If Muslim men are found working as Mehendi artists on the occasion of Hariyali Teej, and then Kranti Sena will teach them a strong lesson in our style”.
The outfit alleged that on the pretext of these jobs, Muslim youths entice Hindu girls into marriage.
The Muzaffarnagar Police replied over a tweet that they are patrolling the market areas and necessary action is being taken against those who disturb the peace and communal harmony.
