While the behaviour of some on social media has put the whole country to shame internationally, there are some citizens whose large-heartedness has been something extremely overwhelming that the country has witnessed in this lockdown. A 60-year-old woman from Kerala has set one such example.

60-year-old Subaida, a small roadside tea shop owner in Kollam, Kerala sold her two goats to contribute to the Chief Minister’s COVID Relief Fund to help the government’s efforts in helping people in this ongoing crisis.

“When I heard the call, though I had nothing as savings to give. I shared my concern with my husband. When I looked around I decided to sell my two small goats and I did that. Then, I went to the Kollam Collectorate and handed over Rs 5,510 to the district collector,” said Subaida, whose noble gesture was acknowledged by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan.

However, Subaida wants to do more. She says her contribution is not over and once her tea shop opens and the business is back, she will give again.
