The police resorted to lathi-charge after a march organised by Campus Front activists in Malappuram ended up in clashes. The march to the GST office in Malappuram was conducted by over 150 Campus Front activists led by their state leaders. The police resorted to lathi-charge and beat up the protesters after it turned uncontrollable, Mathrubumi reported.
Many party workers were injured in the incident. The march was organised to protest over the arrest of Campus Front national secretary Rauf Shareef. They conducted the march alleging the arrest was part of the vengeance of the central government.
Rauf Shareef was arrested in Kerala on Saturday. CFI called the arrest as “ED’s arbitrary detention” and “outrageous.” They demanded Shareef’s immediate release, urged the government to stop targeting activists and organisations who led historic CAA NRC protest and called for a nationwide protest against its national leader’s arrest.
