The Karnataka chapter of the ‘Samvidhan Suraksha Andolan’ – a movement dedicated to protecting the constitution, organized a ‘Resistance Discussion Meeting’ in the presence of their national general secretary Raja Ratna Ambedkar, grandson of Dr B R Ambedkar, at the MLA’s residence near Vidhana Soudha in Bangalore on Wednesday.
The meeting was attended by various prominent leaders belonging to several organizations, women activists, including minority activists from Muslim, Dalit, Christian communities, pro-Kannada activists, and progressive thinkers.
Addressing the media at the event, Bheemaputhri, vice president of the organization said, “Today, Samvidhan Suraksha Andolan has inaugurated its state committee. We are doing this because the constitution of this country which protects the rights and provides security for all living entities in its purview is now in grave danger. Attempts are being made in this regard to change the contents of the Indian constitution, by either adding new sections or omitting existing ones. As these moves are inherently anti-life and anti-people, to counter the ongoing anti-constitution schemes we are commencing this movement to protect the constitution.”
“We are starting this agitation to protect the constitution from the grassroots level, beginning from villages, women, with the aim of reaching all people. Several experienced elders, religious leaders, intellectuals, women, students, prominent personalities working in the legal avenues are part of this movement and leading it. Therefore, there is no scope for diversions, and as the name suggests clearly, this is a movement that aims to protect the constitution. A movement working to protect the rights of all the citizens of this country. There is no confusion in this regard”, she explained.
