Hindutva hardliner and Kalika Mutt seer Rishikumar Swami has been booked by the Chintamani police for calling for an economic boycott of Muslims and for making incendiary speeches against the community.
In a video that surfaced online, Rishikumar, a priest of Arsikere-based Kalika Mutt, was seen administering an oath to the family of Harsha Jingade alias Harsha Hindu, the Bajrang Dal worker murdered in Shivamogga last month, asking them to boycott Muslim businesses.
Rishikumar could be seen delivering an oath, using derogatory terms against the Muslim community.
Acting on the complaint lodged by Munawar, a town resident, a case has been registered against the seer under IPC sections 295 and 505 (2).
Rishikumar is a notorious hate-monger, known for inciting violence against Muslims. In January, he was arrested by Chikmagalur police for making a video and calling for the demolition of the Srirangapatna mosque. He had uploaded a video on his Facebook account claiming that the historic mosque was a Hanuman temple and should be demolished like the Babri Masjid.
Rishi Kumar first shot into the limelight in 2013, after a private TV channel telecast a 12-episode serial, exposing him. In the programme, Kumar had boasted how he “can put his feet on former Chief Minister Yeddyyurappa’s chest and can hold the collar of Basavaraj Bommai, and can settle deals worth crores through phone calls.”
