Karnataka Hindutva Leader Makes Derogatory Speech Against Islam, Even As India Faces International Backlash

Hindu Jagarana Vedike’s Radhakrishna Adyanthaya.

A Hindu Jagarana Vedike leader in Karnataka has made a derogatory speech against Islam at the ‘Hindu Jagriti Sabhe’ held in Mangalore’s Vitla on Tuesday.

A video has surfaced on social media in which HJV’s Radhakrishna Adyanthaya is heard saying, “Islam is not a religion, it’s not a culture, it’s not a humanity, it’s a cruelty, it’s a brutality, it’s a rape culture, it’s a group of looters, it’s a gang of rapists, we can understand it like this.”

Hindu Jagran Vedike is an extremist right-wing organisation affiliated with the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS).

His statements come at a time when India is already facing a diplomatic outrage from the Muslim nations around the globe over insulting comments against Prophet Muhammad by BJP leaders. Several countries, including, Qatar, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia and Iran and condemned the derogatory remarks on Sunday, while Bahrain, Pakistan, Afghanistan, the UAE, Jordan, Indonesia, Oman and the Maldives issued their condemnations on Monday.

On Sunday, the BJP suspended Nupur Sharma and expelled Naveen Jindal as the controversy over their remarks against the Prophet escalated with protests from the Islamic world.
