Uzma Khan, a former student of Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) has received offers to pursue a fully-funded PhD from six prestigious universities across the United States.
In 2021, Khan completed her MSc Electronics course at the Department of Applied Sciences, Faculty of Engineering and Technology.
While she had applied for 100 per cent fellowships in nine US universities, she bagged offers from six of them. According to reports, Khan’s research area will be ‘Underwater wireless communication and signal processing’.
With a 100 per cent tuition fee waiver, Uzma has been offered a monthly stipend for on-campus jobs as a research and teaching assistant at six US universities— Lehigh University, University of Cincinnati, the University of Maryland at Baltimore County, SUNY (State University of New York) Buffalo, SUNY Albany and the University of New Hampshire, as per a statement by JMI.
The JMI alumna has decided to join Lehigh University in August this year. The JMI said that she has also been awarded a one-time relocation allowance by the university.
After securing good scores in IELTS and GRE, Uzma became eligible to apply to US universities.
While pursuing her Master’s studies at Jamia, she also secured the first position in her class. She will be awarded a gold medal in the upcoming convocation of the university.
Uzma Khan has received a provisional offer for ‘Inspire Fellowship’ by the Department of Science and Technology that comes under the Ministry of Science and Technology.
