The secretary of the Women’s department of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind (JIH) has demanded an impartial probe in the case of Delhi Civil Defence (DCD) employee, Rabiya Saifi who was brutally murdered on 26th August in Sangam Vihar, Delhi.
In a statement, expressing utter shock over the brutal murder of Rabiya, JIH Secretary Mrs Rahmatunnisa demanded the culprits are arrested immediately and ex-gratia payment to her family members. She said, “news reports about family members not being satisfied with the course and speed of investigation should be verified. It is a sad reality that despite so much rhetoric about ‘Beti Bachao’, we have still not created a climate in which our girls and women feel safe and secure in their workplace and outdoors.”
Mrs Rahmatunnisa expressed hope that the government, law enforcement agencies, lawmakers, the judiciary and concerned citizens will chalk out new policies for the protection and security of women so that they can accomplish their potential without fear of being stalked, harassed and losing their lives to crimes that put humanity to shame.
21-year-old Rabiya’s gruesome murder has sent shockwaves in the country. Rabiya was abducted from her workplace on the evening of 26th and taken to Faridabad where she was murdered. Her body was found with stabs on her mouth, her body was mutilated and her breasts cut off.
The autopsy report says the death was due to injuries caused by a sharp object and states “shock and haemorrhage” as the cause of death, but does not mention sexual assault. The family, however, has demanded a CBI probe into the case, alleging sexual assault and conspiracy.
