Bengaluru: PC Musthafa, Founder & CEO of iD Fresh Food, which makes batter for idlis and dosas, has become the youngest recipient of the Distinguished Alumni Awards (DAA) in the history of the Indian Institute of Management-Bangalore (IIMB). He was conferred with the award, during the 45th Foundation Day celebrations of IIMB on Sunday.
“My father would be proud to see my name on the Wall of Fame at the institute,” Musthafa said after thanking his batch of 2007 for nominating him.

Musthafa, whose proverbial rags to riches story has become a life lesson for every entrepreneur, is the son of a daily wage earner from Kerala. A school dropout, through a series of events, Musthafa went on to study engineering at the National Institute of Technology in Calicut and later an MBA at the prestigious IIM in Bengaluru. His company, iD Fresh Food, which he started with his cousins Abdul Nazer, Shamsudeen TK, Jafar TK and Noushad TA in 2005, is a ₹1,000-crore company today.
Starting with 10 packets of batter a day in 2005, iD Fresh Food today manufactures over 50,000 packets of batter a day and employs over 1000 people at their units in Bengaluru, Chennai, Pune, Mumbai, Delhi, Hyderabad, and Dubai.
Besides Musthafa, the two other recipients of the award are S Vaidyanathan (PGP 1992), co-founder of The Ganga Trust, and MV Rajamannar (PGP 1985), chief marketing and communications officer and president-healthcare business, Master Card.
