Hyderabad police have booked former Uttar Pradesh Shia Wakf Board chairman Waseem Rizvi and his associates On a complaint by AIMIM chief and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi for using blasphemous and objectionable words against the Prophet Mohammad in his book titled ‘Muhammad’.
Rizvi and his associates have been booked under sections 153 A (Promoting enmity between different groups), 153 B (Imputations, assertions prejudicial to national-integration), 295-A (Deliberate and malicious acts, intended to outrage religious feelings of any class by insulting its religion or religious beliefs), 504 (Intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace), 505 (1) C (Publishing or circulating any statement, rumour or report with intent to incite any class or community of persons to commit any offence against any other class or community).
A delegation of party members including party president and Chief Asaduddin Owaisi met Hyderabad Police Commissioner Anjani Kumar and lodged a complaint against Rizvi.
Addressing the media the Hyderabad MP said, “What Rizvi has written in this book only contains malice, hate, falsehood and lies which clearly attracts IPC Section 153A, 153B, 295A, 504 and 505(1)(c), commissioner of police has assured us that a criminal case will be initiated against him.”
He further said, “This book has been written to provoke the Muslims and Wasim Rizvi is being used as a tool by the people who are inimical to the peace and dignity of our country and we look forward to a strong criminal case against him.”
He also appealed to peace-loving citizens ‘to file a criminal against Rizvi who is trying to destroy the pluralism and peace of the country and hopes that the police will not only file a case but arrest Rizvi.
“The book, written in Hindi, vilifies Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and uses objectionable language against the Prophet, the religion of Islam and its followers. The contents of this book and objectionable statements have been made with a view to outrage the religious sentiments of those who follow Prophet Muhammad and abide by Islamic tenets”, reads the representation letter presented to the Police commissioner of Hyderabad.
Following the complaint, an FIR has been registered and a case has been entrusted to SI, Kamatipura Police Station, Asaduddin Owaisi informed through a tweet later.
Apart from the party chief, the delegation included Telangana Assembly leader Akbaruddin Owaisi, MLAs and MLCs of the party.
