Masjid-e-Tawheed welcomed many of the evacuees on its premises for a temporary stay. Imaad, a member of the Masjid Committee, told Clarion India that volunteers of the mosque had been doing a yeoman’s service in the times of the crisis by sheltering the evacuated people in the spacious place of worship. “There is no barrier of any kind and anyone can come to stay”, Imad said.
Though people are not staying for long, the mosque committee has arranged for the stay for the needy. “We have also distributed around 500 food packets since the morning”, said Imaad talking about the relief work done by the mosque.
The expenditure for the relief work will be shouldered by the committee of the mosque. Through the official handle of the mosque, the message was circulated on social media and it has been re-circulated and highly appreciated by netizens.
Several low-lying areas in the city, such as East Anandbagh and Raj Bhavan Road, were flooded with rainwater. In Hyderabad’s Saroornagar, which received extremely heavy rainfall, many vehicles were swept away by the fast-flowing rainwater, reported The Quint.
The Indian Meteorological Department has warned of heavy to very heavy rainfall for Wednesday and Thursday.
