The local chief of Hindu Jagran Manch – Sachin Sirohi was booked in Meerut on Sunday after Hindutva miscreants forced a Hindu woman to beat up her Muslim friend with a slipper. Sirohi has been booked under IPC sections 323 (assault), 147 (rioting) and 109 (abetting offence).
A video clip of the woman being forced by a group of men to beat up her friend Salman has surfaced on social media. He was also allegedly beaten up by the Hindutva goons.
Sirohi told the media that they were informed by a local shopkeeper about a Hindu woman hanging out with a Muslim man. The miscreants reportedly dragged Salman to the police station and wanted him to get booked. However, the woman refused to file a complaint against him saying that she was with him of her own accord.
The Hindu Jagran Manch men later forced the woman’s mother to file a complaint against Salman but the complaint was withdrawn by the police saying that it was filed under pressure.
“The mother later withdrew the complaint, saying that it was not written by her but by the members of the Hindu Jagran Manch. She told us that she did not know what was written in her complaint,” The Indian Express quoted Gajendra Singh, the Investigating Officer as saying.
The woman filed a complaint against Sirohi accusing him and others of forcing her to beat her friend Salman at Gole Market on Friday. In her complaint, she states that when she was having a cold drink along with two friends at Gole Market, a group of people came, asked Salman his name and started assaulting him.
“They forced us to beat him (Salman) and told me to get an FIR registered against him or else there will be bad consequences. I have come to the police station. Please lodge an FIR,” said the woman in her complaint lodged at Civil Lines Police Station.
