Prof Rashid Umar, faculty member, Department of Geology, Faculty of Science at Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) has been awarded the National Award for Excellence in Ground Water Science for 2019. It is given by the Indian National Chapter of International Association of Hydrogeologists (INC-IAH) every year. The objective of the award is to honour groundwater professionals for their outstanding contribution in Indian Hydrogeology.
Prof Rashid Umar has published several research papers in high-quality journals; completed extramural projects funded by Department of Science and Technology (DST), and Ministry of Water Resources (MoWR), Government of India and guided many PhD students. He has extensive experience in working with international agencies of groundwater research.
