During the opening ceremony of the FIFA World Cup 2022 at Qatar, a 20-year-old Qatari, Ghanim Al-Muftah starring alongside Hollywood legend Morgan Freeman caught the attention of the audience by quoting the verses of Quran to share the message of diversity and acceptance.
On Sunday, Freeman delivered a message of hope, unity and tolerance at the opening ceremony, while Muftah, an ambassador of FIFA World Cup, recited verses from Quran to share the message of diversity and acceptance.
Stripped of his stardom, Freeman sat on the ground with the Qatari icon that has taken the world by storm.
Muftah is a twin brother born with a rare condition Caudal Regression Syndrome, that impairs the development of the lower spine.
He became Qatar’s youngest entrepreneur having founded an ice-cream business. Despite his physical disabilities, he plays multiple sports, including football.
Instead of allowing his disability to stunt his life, Ghanim has learned to overcome obstacles with positivity and hope. At present, he is pursuing his university degree, majoring in political sciences with an ambition to become a diplomat.
