Genocidal threats calling for the killing of Muslims were shouted at Jantar Mantar in Delhi on Sunday during an event organised by Supreme Court lawyer and former spokesperson of the Delhi unit of Bharatiya Janata Party Ashwini Upadhyay. BJP leader Gajendra Chauhan was among the participants.
In the video, a mob can be seen chanting slogans like, “Jab mulle kaate jayenge, Ram-Ram chillayenge (Muslims will chant Ram-Ram when they will be slaughtered).” Another slogan raised was “Hindustan me rehna hoga, Jai Shree Ram kehna hoga (You will have to chant Jai Shree Ram if you want to live in India).”
Upadhyay had called for the march to demand an end to “colonial-era laws” by setting up a uniform civil code in the country. The organisers had not taken permission for the event, The Indian Express reported.
While addressing the public, he said, “These laws were deliberately framed to imprison ‘Veer Savarkar, to hang Bhagat Singh, Sukh Dev, to lathi-charge Lala Lajpat Rai”.
He said, “These laws were framed without seeking any advice from the people of the country”.
The demands of the rally included repeal of 222 laws made during British rule and implementation of the Uniform Civil Code. They demanded one code of conduct for the entire country.
The rally was joined by children as young as 10, with their parents, holding pamplets in their hands calling for “Islam ka vinaash” (annihilation of Islam).
The pamphlet reads as, “Adopt terrorism to counter-terrorism”, “don’t protest, rebel.” “Don’t make noise, annihilate them, and make them extinct. Anyone who is up for this cause, call on the given number to join the fight”, followed by a helpline number.
Discussions were also held by the rally about the so-called ‘Love Jihad’, controlling Muslim population, Shaheen Bagh protests, Rohingya refugees among others.
Hindutva organizations from different parts of the country also joined the rally, who extended their support and resources to “annihilate Islam and Muslims.”
The rally was held barely 2 kilometers away from the Parliament with heavy enforcement of Police, but no one came forward to take cognizance of the situation.
On Sunday, several social media users expressed concern about the incidents and demanded action from the Delhi Police. They also called for a statement from Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.

Those who are insecure always find time & use energy to downgrade others. Nature has taken care of many such people in the past & some even got converted to the religion which was insulted by them. Tomorrow when some other secular party wins the elections, the same type of people stand in que to join, it is not new.
