Four spectators were detained by police for waving the Palestinian flag from the gallery, during the Pakistan-Bangladesh World Cup cricket match at the Eden Gardens stadium in Kolkata.
The incident occurred during the first innings of the match, while Bangladesh was batting. The detained individuals were later released without any charges being filed.The detained individuals were identified as two residents of Bally in the Howrah district, one from the Ekbalpore area in Kolkata, and two political activists who had participated in a protest march before entering the stadium.
The detained men were expressing their solidarity with the people of Palestine who have been facing the genocidal violence of Israel. At least 8500 were killed in Gaza by Israel since 7 October.
